Toyota Prado Vs Mitsubishi Pajero/Shogun/Montero

I put this post up so that you can compare the Toyota Prado to the Mitsubishi Pajero otherwise known as the Mitsubishi Shogun or Montero. This is probably a better comparison according to the general media.
If you view the technical specifications of both models the NM, NT and NS model Pajero and LandCruiser Prado are very similar. Specification comparison here are for 2009 models.
Of course technical similarities do not always mean that superior specifications means better performance. Real life experience with both models are needed to judge properly.

Note that Mitsubishi has updated the engine for 2009 and it provides significantly more power and torque than the Prado!

Specification comparison is below!

To pick an easily understood example of why specifications are NOT the ultimate factor on what makes a car popular - take the example of the Toyota Corolla.  It's a consistent best seller in its class all over the world - not because it's specifications are better than other competitors but other less tangible things like perception of  reliability, reputation, cabin feel, style and price.

Both Prado and Pajero are lovely cars and choosing between them would technically be difficult however after driving both you will decide that they are quite different. So chose the one that most appeals to you.
Check out our 150 series Prado comparison with the Pajero for the drive comparison.
Note that specifications will change according to the trim models available and additional or less accessories.  You should check the official Mitsubishi website for your country for the most up to date information.
