Toyota Prado Vs Hyundai Terracan

This is a brief comparison between the Toyota Prado and the Hyundai Terracan. I put this page up so that you can compare purely for personal interest reasons - also because the Terracan has been discontinued worldwide.

The Toyota Prado and the Hyundai Terracan where comparable in prior years, in particular with the pre-2002 Mitsubishi Pajero which it shares the same basic platform or architecture and engines. But the Hyundai Terracan had various issues which meant it wasn't a very popular model. Nevertheless it can be purchased in the used market.

The Hyundai Terracan was dated in all ways except for its engines which where state of the art. Not surprisingly there where essentially Mitsubishi engines.

Specification and price comparison data is listed below.

However as years have past Hyundai has also moved on and quality in every way including specific engines and suspension have improved even for the same model.

Hyundai have not announced a replacement for the Terracan at the time this article was posted.

Note that specifications will change according to the trim models available and additional or less accessories. You should check the official Hyundai website for your country for the most up to date information.

Toyota Prado Vs Hummer H3

I put this page up so that you can compare the Toyota Prado to the Hummer H3.

The Hummer H3 is the smallest Hummer you can get at the time of this writeup. Sure it looks like the original military version and that I guess is the main selling point!

The Hummer is one of the less compared models for some reason but when I tried one it is clear that you should at least have a good look. If there is one major problem is that the Hummer's interior feels small and cramped and the quality of materials could be much much better.  If you are bigger in size you may also find the door openings especially the rear tight.

Specification comparison below!

Although the Hummer does look big in pictures - in reality it's not! Only a 5 seater. Nevertheless if it had better engine options I could live with owning one of these - maybe..

Note that specifications will change according to the trim models available and additional or less accessories. You should check the official Hummer website for your country for the most up to date information.

Toyota Prado Vs Lexus GX

I put this post up so that you can compare the LandCruiser Prado to the Lexus GX 470.

Warning - you may be seeing double - because both the Prado and GX are based on the same body and platform.  It can be assumed that Toyota designed the basics with both brands in mind.

The main difference between the 2 models is the V8 engine in the Lexus GX. Lexus has only one version (at time of writing) and it comes with almost everything. Strangely there are options like Mark Levinson
entertainment system and the latest Kinetic suspension system.

Minor differences includes some exterior changes however it is limited to the bonnet and the bumpers. The exterior tyre holder is also missing moved to where the Prado extended range fuel tank is located.

In terms of drive system its probably the same - so it's got all the various traction aids and of cause presumably the same characteristics as the top range Prado Grande.
There are also quite a few new interior equipment upgrades compared to the even the top range Prado. Nice if you can get one!
Note that specifications will change according to the trim models available and additional or less accessories. You should check the official Lexus  website for your country for the most up to date information.

Toyota Prado Vs Mitsubishi Pajero/Shogun/Montero

I put this post up so that you can compare the Toyota Prado to the Mitsubishi Pajero otherwise known as the Mitsubishi Shogun or Montero. This is probably a better comparison according to the general media.
If you view the technical specifications of both models the NM, NT and NS model Pajero and LandCruiser Prado are very similar. Specification comparison here are for 2009 models.
Of course technical similarities do not always mean that superior specifications means better performance. Real life experience with both models are needed to judge properly.

Note that Mitsubishi has updated the engine for 2009 and it provides significantly more power and torque than the Prado!

Specification comparison is below!

Mitsubishi Pajero
VS
120 SeriesToyota Prado

To pick an easily understood example of why specifications are NOT the ultimate factor on what makes a car popular - take the example of the Toyota Corolla.  It's a consistent best seller in its class all over the world - not because it's specifications are better than other competitors but other less tangible things like perception of  reliability, reputation, cabin feel, style and price.

Both Prado and Pajero are lovely cars and choosing between them would technically be difficult however after driving both you will decide that they are quite different. So chose the one that most appeals to you.
Check out our 150 series Prado comparison with the Pajero for the drive comparison.
Note that specifications will change according to the trim models available and additional or less accessories.  You should check the official Mitsubishi website for your country for the most up to date information.
